feds begin to shut down #isolatedcannabinoids the old fashioned way, with money.
Its hard to sell a product without banking. That's the realization coming down increasingly on segments of the cannabis industry as the FTC weighs in on the real parameters of legally selling product in America, and banks proactively comply.
A big issue has raised alarms for Fed banking regulators: there are thousands of years of safe use history for smoking cannabis, and for ingesting it in a wholeplant or concentrated only form, but many if not most of the products in many markets, do not fall within this safety parameter.
And for Fed banking regulators, it doesn't really matter if everyone thinks its safe, there is either safe use history or science to support safety- or there isn't. And...there isn't... of either.
And there's a big elephant in the room which might be related. Hospital ERs and many healthcare professionals across the U.S. have noted thousands of cases of CHS in the last decade- Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome, which is thought to most likely be the result of daily ingestion of... isolated cannabinoids, in particular very concentrated or isolated versions of THC.
To add weight to the hammer of this perspective- both the FTC and the Consumer Product Safety Commission cannot allow the sale of products which have an associated Medicare code and cost, which is a likely or, even as some healthcare professionals state- an inevitable occurrence.
What does this mean? Possibly drastic changes to the edibles and smoke-able concentrates markets in some if not all U.S. markets. Common products such as gummies are almost always made from an isolated cannabinoid type material. Without banking to support operations, manufacturers will simply cease to produce these materials.
SKMS Staff would note that such change would undoubtedly also remove many of the worst actors in the industry, not committed enough to engage more complex manufacturing methods or adhere to improved product accountability.
